‘The Secret Garden’ – Matakana Sculptural Habitat is alongside the Protea Patch Plant Nursery.

 There are 20 large sculptures in the Matakana Sculptural Habitat, plus 13 open quotes and seven closed booklet quotations, all selected for their relevance to the concept of transformation from the Writings of the Baha’i Faith.

The major structures form a single structure which represents the inner spirit of the Habitat, while each individual sculpture stands alone representing an individual aspect of the essence of the property.

The smaller art pieces provide a different layer of activity where movement, filtered light, shapes and shadows play an important role.

At another level, the quotations provide a connection to the unseen reality of the multiple layers of physical activity.

The weather elements impact on light, colour, and movement, enhancing the life and energy of the artworks throughout the seasons.
